UCAC2 beta: CDs have been created
and sent out to testers in early May.
In a few weeks we will get into production and ship the final version.
The new catalog will supersede the UCAC1 and will
cover declinations from -90 to about +40..+50 degrees.
Proper motions will be provided, based on SPM, NPM, AC2000.2, AGK2
and other catalogs.
Catalog introduction and format description will be posted on this site soon.

New pictures from the relocation of the telescope (CTIO to NOFS),
in Sept/Oct 2001, see below. We also have a new observer at NOFS.
-
2001, October 28: first light at the new location of the
astrograph, the Naval Observatory Flagstaff Station,
after only 6 days of set-up time out of the crates.
Regular survey observing continued on October 31.
-
2001, September 18/19 was the last observing night at CTIO.
A color plot shows the fields completed by
year (yellow = mid Feb.1998 - mid Feb.1999, ... green = mid Feb.2001 - 19 Sept 2001).
-
2000, October 02, observing is complete to +5 degree declination.
A preliminary (internal use only) catalog contains positions for
over 42 million stars.
-
2000, August 26/27, Southern Hemisphere observing complete
-
2000, March, the first, preliminary catalog, the
UCAC1 was released.
We are out of UCAC1 CDs.
However, the new UCAC2 CDs (see above) supersede the UCA1 release.
The AJ paper about UCAC1 still has some value, describing the
general observing and reduction procedures.
